  • Scintillation is the light flashes that bounce off of the surface of this stone when you move it. It is also known as sparkle.

The cut is the feature that determines how brilliant and sparkly the diamond is and how much fire it has. It describes how the angles and proportions of a diamond reflect the light too, not just the form. The light enters through the top of a well-cut diamond, bounces around and exits again through the top. However, it enters and leaks out the side or bottom of a poor cut diamond, so it will appear dull. Needless to say, what it will be like in a raw diamond.

After all, the gemstone has to appeal to the eye of the viewer at the store itself for the sale purpose.

In a room, LED lights show the fire in a better way compared to fluorescent light. The second type of light is better for brilliance.

  • Clarity: Plenty of big inclusions can block the light rays as these move through the gemstone, reducing the effect. Generally, we would suggest a clarity grade of SI1 or above.
  • Dirt: When the diamond’s surface is dirty, it blocks the light that is exiting it, reducing the fire you see. So,it is best to keep the surface clean to keep your diamond sparkling.
